Compulsory core unit for students in new Law degrees, which commenced in 2013, with course codes: 63I, 63J, 63K, 63L, 63M, 63N, 63O and 63P. Also degrees commencing 2014 63Q and 63R.
Introduction
Builds on preliminary examination of the law of private obligations introduced in Law252 Foundations of Private Law by targeting the law of torts. The unit provides students with a comprehensive survey of the principal causes of action in the law of torts, as well as assessing the impact of tort law reforms through the Civil Liability Act 2002 (Tas). Torts covered include intentional torts to the person, intentional torts to land, nuisance, defamation and negligence. Practical skills include legal problem solving, legal reasoning and oral presentation.

Requisites
- Pre-requisites: LAW121 and LAW122 and completion of first year in another degree, or a bachelor degree and LAW255 and LAW252.
