Introduction
Sustainable development is one of the most important elements of planning in a variety of industry sectors. Tourism is no exception. This unit investigates the practical application of sustainable development by examining tourism businesses in Tasmania. It also covers the historical development of the general concept of sustainability, its relevance for eco-tourism and nature-based tourism, management strategies to achieve sustainable tourism, quality and accreditation schemes, and the future of sustainable tourism.
