Exercise Nutrition CXA323
Launceston
Introduction
This unit is focused on students' developing knowledge, skills, and competencies to critically evaluate current nutrition theories, guidelines and research in relation to exercise, health, fitness and sporting endeavours under the rubric of evidence-based outcomes in exercise and sport. The metabolic pathways of the energy yielding nutrients and their manipulation through dietary intake are explored together with emerging concepts of human bioenergetics. The physiological and pharmacological actions of nutrients and nutrient-like supplements are examined. Laboratory sessions provide practical experience of various anthropometrical, nutritional and hydration assessment techniques.
