Introduction

This unit is a continuation of Mathematics 1A, with emphasis on the application of single- variable calculus and linear algebra to problems in the physical and biological sciences, economics, and engineering. The units Mathematics 1A and Mathematics 1B also provide an excellent introduction to the mathematical rigour required for higher level mathematics based subjects. Successful completion of Mathematics 1A and Mathematics 1B is the prerequisite for most second year units in Mathematics and Physics as well as all semester 1, second year units in Engineering.
