Engineering Statics XPD142

Introduction

The main objective of this unit is to develop in students the ability to analyse engineering statics problems in a simple and logical manner through the application of several basic principles. It will consolidate the fundamental concepts of Newton's Mechanics learnt by students in physics courses during their college studies. [It also aims to provide students with the ability to make an informed decision about what a career in civil engineering might entail.] The unit covers fundamental concepts and principles of engineering mechanics - statics.
