The Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation is designed as an alternative entry pathway to university study. The units included in the course provide foundational skills and knowledge to begin your academic journey.
On completion of the Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation, you will be able to:
  • negotiate the university environment confidently
  • engage with academic information in a variety of contexts and formats
  • interpret and evaluate knowledge from a variety of different perspectives
  • reflect on and develop your capacity as a learner
  • undertake further study, with credit into a Diploma of University Studies
  • 1 Identify and implement strategies to negotiate the university environment
  • 2 Apply generic skills for academic purposes underpinned by principles of academic integrity
  • 3 Interpret, evaluate, and transmit knowledge and information in an academic context
  • Project and team-based learning is a key component of the Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation. Students doing these units are encouraged to apply knowledge in community or home contexts (or their workplaces if applicable). Students are exposed to authentic and engaging learning experiences designed to develop their understanding of work, but also of study and community. Students are introduced to (i) different methods of and approaches to practice, (ii) issues such as values, ethics, empathy and leadership and (iii) the role of reflection and deliberative thinking in developing knowledge, skills, attitudes and aspirations.

    Entry requirements

    This Undergraduate Certificate is open to applicants from a broad range of backgrounds. Domestic Applicants This course is designed for applicants who do not meet general entry requirements or who want a more supported or graded introduction to university study. There are no formal entry requirements for UPP.

    Passes in units in other incomplete courses in this University or another approved tertiary institution may be credited towards the undergraduate certificate and a course plan developed to detail the units required by the student to qualify for the undergraduate certificate. The maximum credit granted will be in accordance with the limits as stated in Rule 6: Admission, Assessment and Student Progress.

    Students completing the Undergraduate Certificate in University preparation will receive advanced standing for four 12.5 credit point units of the Diploma of University Studies

    Domestic students

    Options for this course

    This is a full-fee course, which means you’ll need to pay the full amount for your studies. Commonwealth Supported Places are not available in this course. However, there are still support options available for eligible students to help you manage the cost of studying this course.

    You may be able to fund all or part of your tuition fees by accessing a FEE-HELP loan from the Australian Government. FEE-HELP is a loan scheme that assists domestic full-fee students to pay for University, which is repaid through the Australian Tax System once you earn above a repayment threshold. This means you’ll only have to start repaying the loan once you start earning above a specific amount
