Please see additional requirements for the Nursing Foundation Studies stream below.

Domestic Applicants with higher education study
- Completed at least one undergraduate unit (equivalent to 12.5 UTAS credit points).

Domestic Applicants with work and life experience:
If you have not successfully completed senior secondary, tertiary or TAFE/VET study, but have relevant work and life experience you can complete a personal competency statement. Additional Requirements for Nursing Foundation Studies Stream

Please do not apply for this stream directly. Please apply for the Bachelor of Nursing (H3N). If you are not eligible for a place in the Bachelor of Nursing you will automatically be considered for a place in the Diploma of University Studies.

All students entering the Nursing Foundation Studies stream must either:

  • Declare that English is your primary language (the language primarily used for reading, writing, listening, and speaking and the language known best and most comfortable with); OR
  • Provide evidence of achieving an IELTS result of 6.5 in all bands (or equivalent in a recognised English test)

This requirement is in place to ensure you are able to meet the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council English language requirements on entry to the Bachelor of Nursing. If you do not have English as your primary language you must provide evidence of achieving an IELTS result of 7.0 in all bands (or equivalent in a recognised English test) on entry to the Bachelor of Nursing.

Entry quotas exist for the Nursing Foundation Studies Stream for all campuses. Applicants will be ranked by academic merit and offers made based on the number of places available. 2021 is the first year in which the Nursing Foundation Studies Stream will be offered so there is no historical ATAR or selection rank information available.

If you are not eligible for a place in the Nursing Foundation Studies stream, we will contact you to discuss alternative course options.

PRE-REQUISITES

Applicants for the Engineering specialisation must have prior studies and experience equivalent to a satisfactory achievement in Tasmanian Secondary General Mathematics – Foundation (MGT215114) or higher.

If you have not met this prerequisite, you may be made an alternative offer for the Science specialisation.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
If your ability to access or participate in education has been affected by circumstances beyond your control, you can apply for special consideration as part of your application. We will consider a range of factors for special consideration, including economic hardship, a serious medical condition or disability.

We can only approve applications for special consideration where we are confident that you have the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in your studies. If your application is not approved, the UTAS admissions team will work with you to find the best alternative pathway to your chosen course. Special consideration is not available for international applicants.
