The Undergraduate Certificate in Applied Design is the perfect opportunity to put your creative mind to the test and kick-start an exciting career in design.

Designers help to shape the way we see the world around us. By creating products we love to use, services we rely on, and experiences that we live for, they’re essentially the tastemakers of the modern world.

In this course you will learn what it means to be a real-world creative problem solver. You’ll be introduced to the key aspects of design aesthetics by learning about the visual language in art and design, such as the impact of colours, patterns, shapes and textures.

A key focus of your studies is the globally-recognised problem-solving process of Design Thinking. You will learn how to research, prototype and test ideas based on a human-centered approach, that places people’s needs at the core of the problem.

You’ll also learn key entrepreneurial skills that will help you to navigate the market, including how to price, promote and pitch your products and services.

Best of all, this course will have you feeling prepared for current and new emerging design industry jobs in Tasmania and beyond, guided by industry-connected staff.
