Introduction

This unit will critically assess the knowledge, structures and systems required to effectively govern, organise and manage residential aged care organisations. The aged care sector will be reviewed within the Australian healthcare context, its specific historical trajectory of development and need for reform will be investigated. Governance arrangements incorporating legislation, regulation and systems for aged care organisations will be examined. The challenge of addressing multiple stakeholders and how they interact with each other will be explored. Students will have opportunities to hear from experts across Australia and participate in industry case studies and analysis.
