Introduction

This unit investigates health care principles and models for engagement between patients, their carers and family, and professionals. The importance of consumer engagement and the association with effective, sustainable organisational governance systems is studied. This involves examining theories, systems, processes and actions for partnering with consumers and delivering comprehensive care.

To operationalise these requirements, this unit investigates the application of the NSQHSS Partnering with Consumers and Comprehensive Care Standards. Their dependency and integration with other standards in the NSQHSS are also reviewed.

Teaching Pattern

This unit is delivered fully online and is self-paced, however assessment tasks must be completed by the due date.

Students are encouraged to attend online classes where possible however these will also be recorded for students who are not able to attend at the scheduled times.

Assessment

Weekly Reflections (40%), Presentation (20%), Assignment (40%).
