Introduction

This unit will enable students to appraise the theory, practice and process for achieving safety and quality in healthcare organisations. The unit focuses on identifying quality management processes, practices and tools for the review and improvement of healthcare delivery. Additionally, strategies and mechanisms for safety and risk management will be identified and evaluated. The focus will be on how managers engage healthcare professionals, patients and the community to deliver safety and quality requirements. The unit identifies tools and implementation requirements of legislative regulations and professional practices. Students will have opportunities to hear from experts across Australia and participate in industry case studies and analysis.
