Leadership affects all organisations and is of increasing importance in today’s dynamic business world. The task of leading is generally associated with senior management, but all organisational members have the potential to exercise leadership by influencing and inspiring themselves and others.
Effective leadership requires advanced knowledge of theory and skilful application. Leadership requires the capability to build relationships and develop and implement strategies to support the organisation and its people to achieve their objectives.
This unit covers conventional and alternative perspectives on leadership and explores the practice of leadership in a range of contexts. Through the use of experiential activities and a blended learning approach, students will develop their leadership potential.

This unit does not have a prescribed text. Instead, each week students are required to read a 1 or 2 journal articles that correspond to each topic in the Unit Schedule and are available via the unit Reading List.
