Introduction
Retailing is a large and diverse industry that contributes significantly to the overall economy. Further retailing, influences our daily lives in our roles as consumers and shoppers. In recent years, the role of retail marketing and management has evolved with the increase of competition from the growth of new technology and consumer demand for better value with higher quality service.
The study of retail marketing and management requires an understanding of a wide range of activities such as: environmental and consumer analysis; retail marketing research; retail strategy; merchandise planning; store development; operations; channel management; pricing; promotion; retail marketing management; location analysis; and human resource management.
This unit assists you to acquire a deeper understanding of the retail environment, retail strategy and concepts, and equips you with a working knowledge of how to integrate suitable techniques and strategies to maximise the effectiveness of retail marketing and management efforts.
This unit also takes a strategic focus on the role and importance of service quality. In particular, service quality in the service counter and the management of the service and retail experience in achieving customer satisfaction.
