Alignment of Course Learning to Professional Standards EAL323

Introduction

In this unit, you will demonstrate the ability to purposefully and meaningfully engage with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: 1 Know students and how they learn, 2 Know the content and how to teach it and 3 Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning. Structured around reflective and deliberative practice, the unit is designed to facilitate the demonstration of the desired learning outcomes within your learning portfolio. The portfolio is both a learning strategy and a form of assessment which facilitates the development of teacher competencies. Through the documentation in the portfolio you will be afforded the opportunity to be aware of the significance and impact of your teaching and learning activities. The learning portfolio is where the you tease out, develop and test the frameworks needed for reflection and evaluation, which in turn builds your capacity to reflect on and articulate clearly your skills; how and where the skills were learned and where they can be applied.
