Educational Professionalism EAL501
Hobart
This unit is being phased out, no new enrolments are being taken.
Introduction
This unit will establish the skills and knowledge to enable students to acknowledge their independent educational identity, and contextualize this within both their current educational or workplace environment as well as their broader community. The concepts of collegial constructive criticism and peer mentoring will be integral to this unit, and students will gain valuable knowledge in these critical processes through an appreciative analysis of their own professional capabilities. This unit will introduce students to portfolios as a reflective tool to identify and contextualize their own capabilities, and to establish through a reflective journal the foundations for both independent and collegial professional learning. Students will create and share a professional artefact aligned with relevant standards, and utilize this to appreciate the divergent educational environments of their peers and the potential for increased sharing of knowledge through a range of online tools. Skills in this unit will equip students for ongoing professional development and learning as they progress in this course and their career.
