Professional Experience 6 - 8 years EDP702

Introduction

Within the Graduate Certificate in Education (Early Childhood) course Professional Experience (PE)
is designed to enable graduates to further demonstrate their practice in a school context. This
placement involves active observation, and participation, and increased engagement in teaching
and learning activities with learners 6– 8 years. It is conducted over three consecutive weeks (15
days). There is an expectation that by the end of PE, graduates should demonstrate the capacity to
assume full responsibility for approximately 80% of a full-time teaching load across a range of key
learning areas.
Throughout the placement graduates are required to maintain a professional planning file which
must include planning; policy documents; resources for teaching and learning; and reflections on
their own teaching and learning.
