Introduction
The units EMT608 Digital Technologies and EMT607 Preparing for the Profession are delivered as a linked pair. Each unit is a stand‐alone unit; however, the two units are designed to support each other, and to develop shared, coherent and collaborative learning experiences. These units give students an opportunity to understand the theory, methods and practice of teaching using digital technologies while preparing themselves as teachers for their transition into the profession.
EMT608 is designed to introduce Digital Technologies in education. It will explore the distinctions between ICT and Digital Technologies. This unit will provoke your interest and thinking about how digital systems work, with a major focus on the Digital Technologies subject of the Australian Curriculum: Technologies. This unit also broadens knowledge and understanding of Digital Technologies by providing opportunities for you to solve problems by creating a digital solution. In addition you will learn to design a teaching unit appropriate for a selected area of the curriculum, and ethically apply contemporary and emerging Digital Technologies in your professional practice.
