Introduction
This unit addresses salient issues in second language learning, globally. Second language within this unit refers to any language learned in addition to a first language. Issues include: linguistic issues in language acquisition; linguistic awareness; socio-political impacts and effects of second languages; TESOL in a multicultural society; English as a global language; language learner autonomy; assessing language competence. The unit encourages students to engage and review topics in relevance to their personal and professional settings..
