Introduction
This unit is pivotal to the course. Research highlights the importance of Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Paraprofessionals being clear about their role and how this assists Paraprofessionals' effectiveness in working with children. Giangreco (2003), Causton (2009) and others claim that without training, many TAs instincts while well intentioned are wrong. This unit explores these contentions within a broader examination of the role of the Paraprofessional and extends on the content covered in ESH162.
