Leading and Managing People ESM706

This unit will only be offered subject to sufficient enrolment numbers.

Introduction

Leaders now hold key responsibilities for developing the human resource capacities in their organisations. During times of rapid and complex change this responsibility is increased. The professional development and on-going learning of staff, to meet changes in roles and capability requirements in response to internal and external forces, becomes a critical leadership skill. This unit examines some contemporary approaches to continuing professional development and development of staff to attain professional standards and capabilities. The potential for using the principles and practices associated with learning organisations to embed learning not as an add-on, but rather as a critical aspect of organisational life, are also analysed.
