Introduction
This unit will explore ways of developing an interpretive literary community through close and wide study of literature. You will be required to examine, analyse and interpret a diverse range of children's literature, including picturebooks, canonical literature, poetry, contemporary literature, and literature considered "radical". You will build knowledge of key critical frameworks through which texts can be interpreted. You will have the opportunity to respond to core debates and current trends in children's literature through the development of a critical response literary portfolio, which will include reflecting on and making links to your own teaching contexts.
