Educating Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder ESM743
Introduction
Today's teachers need to be cognisant of the diverse range of their students' needs and abilities. Due to the nature and prevalence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), it is important for all educators to have the knowledge and skills to optimise the educational experiences of this population. With an underpinning philosophy that celebrates difference and values the rights and potentials of each individual student, this unit explores the learning needs which characterise individuals with an ASD in order to inform appropriate support strategies and teaching practices within collaborative educational contexts.
