Introduction
Music Creation 1 is the first of two units exploring the application of theory and contextual study to the creation of new musical work. The unit focuses on recent musical styles and genres as a way to discuss different approaches to music creation that have emerged since the early 20th century. The unit is divided into three sections that each examine a different musical style or genre. Students will create three new musical works informed by this study and will independently research one of these musical styles or genres in depth.
