Contemporary Faultlines: Ethics and Social Relevance FFX313


This project based unit explores contemporary art as a means through which to navigate and respond to the range of ethical, moral, social, technological and environmental challenges facing the contemporary world. Contemporary art practice shapes social, political, transnational and moral space, and artists need to reflexively articulate their position as producers of these spaces. Art has become increasingly implicated in questions of ethics and as a vehicle and means through which to negotiate the complex questions and challenges that confront us in the contemporary world. 

Students develop a self-determined project responding to a selected theme for their final folio task. This project may engage drawing, painting, photomedia, sound, performance, installation and socially engaged art, and allows the potential for hybrid and collaborative projects.

A folio consisting your project outcome, supported by a portfolio of documentation and writing including your pitch, experimentation/exploration, evaluation, reflection (maximum equivalent 15 pages) 100%.  Non-assessed hurdle and milestone tasks as described in the unit outline.
