Introduction
Craft 'won't stay put'. In a cultural moment in which the handmade and artisanal are catchcries, while new technologies open up different ways of making, questions about what craft was, is, and could be blur boundaries between craft, art and design.
In this unit you will explore how histories and traditions of craft, themselves multiple and unstable, open up experimentation across materials, forms, and processes.
Project work is supported by demonstrations, seminars, individual and group exercises, workshops and group critiques. Journal work is central to project development and you are required to keep a record of your ideas, insights, concepts, methods and learning processes.
