Hobart, Launceston

This unit has been discontinued.

Note: Full time students enrol in FSA405 Project Development A and FSA406 Project Development B concurrently. Part time students enrol in FSA405 Project Development A and FSA406 Project Development B over two consecutive semesters.

Introduction

The research conducted for this unit will lay the groundwork for your thesis submission in second semester.

In this unit you will develop a research plan and time line for the pursuit of a line of speculative, self-directed work in the field of contemporary art or design.

Through contextual research you will be able situate the concerns informing your practice in the context of current theoretical ideas and critical debate in the visual arts as well as identifying the key examples of visual arts practice that are relevant to your project.

You will experiment broadly and in-depth through speculative preliminary studio, theoretical and / or professional investigations that will enable you to establish the key aims and objectives of your Honours thesis.

Studio practitioners and professional interns will create a visual diary or journal to track their investigations.

Theorists will research and write an essay analysing an aspect of contemporary visual theory relevant to their project, developing their skills in critical analysis and argument in relation to current theoretical debates, and develop a chapter outline for their written thesis.
