Drawing & Printmaking 2B FSD217

Hobart, Launceston

Introduction

This unit will focus on the body as a site for exploration. The body has been a subject for drawing and printmaking across cultures and time. You will engage with the body through observation and interpretation from life drawing and sensory explorations. Through iterative drawing and printmaking process you will broaden your capacity to understand and engage with diverse materials, methodologies and processes.
Through the guidance of staff, students are encouraged to develop independent learning strategies towards the development of individual expression and self-directed outcomes. Artist talks, lectures, class presentations, group discussion and critique will support practical work. These and other class activities encourage positive and productive dialogue within a supportive class culture. Students will be guided through in-depth approaches to observation and reflection, connecting their studio-based experiences with contextual knowledge of contemporary art discourse.
