Sculpture & Time-Based Media 1 FSF114
Introduction
Sculpture and Time Based Media 1 (STBM 1) explores the integration of objects with electronic and time based media to provide a solid platform for creative exploration and expression.
You will investigate sculpture and installation processes through an exploration of three-dimensional forms, materials and environments, various making processes such as construction and assemblage with diverse materials, modelling and casting. This is undertaken in combination with Time Based Media techniques such as video, projection, sound, performance and stop motion animation. STBM is fundamental to installation practice which is a cornerstone of contemporary art.
This unit will introduce you to skills, techniques and technologies of sculpture and moving image via experimentation, critique and conceptualisation. You will engage in making and thinking through combination of sculptural and moving image modes, in ways that expand theoretical, conceptual and practical understanding of art practice. Staff and technicians will support and guide you to apply and experiment with these skills, and reflect on the outcomes, while engaging safe work practices.
