Photography 1 will introduce you to the medium of photography. Directed by staff and technicians, in the context of a studio/workshop/tutorial curriculum, you will be introduced to traditional techniques, new technologies and approaches to contemporary practice.
Study of this unit will involve undertaking basic skills and techniques, and introduce you to experimenting, critiquing and conceptualising form and method.
Thematic lectures will provide an overview of historical and contemporary photography, and support projects that advance technical proficiency and your capacity to transform concepts into photographic imagery.
Students will be encouraged to consider connections to other Studio units.
