Introduction
Painting is a vital and exciting medium that continues to fascinate contemporary artists and audiences.
By undertaking this unit, you will gain an understanding of painting and its place within contemporary visual culture, exploring contemporary forms of painting as well as its rich and enduring history. You will be encouraged to explore a range of paint media and ways of developing imagery.
You will undertake a series of exercises as your teachers guide you through traditional techniques and new approaches to contemporary painting practice. This will provide you with basic skills that you can then experiment with and develop further within the set projects. Your learning will be enhanced and extended through critical discussion and contextual research.
Workplace health and safety is an important part of any art studio. This unit will ensure that you have the right information to work safely and sustainably with painting media.
