Introduction

In order to undertake this unit you will have been offered a significant industry-based professional development opportunity.

This opportunity could be:

  • An industry placement in a cultural institution;
  • selection in a curated exhibition;
  • an internship;
  • curating an exhibition;
  • writing a scholarly catalogue essay or critical review for publication;
  • a residency;
  • a commission

Before you will be accepted to enrol in this unit you will need to make a case in writing that this is a substantial opportunity, by arguing for the quality, complexity or significance of the activity.

For assessment on completion of the unit you will be required to submit a detailed report on the activity and articulate how it has impacted on developing your practice or professional profile.  As part of your report, you will be required to include a reference from your mentor or the host of your opportunity, to provide a brief evaluative commentary on your participation and performance.
