Introduction
Research is providing increasing evidence for the positive benefits of engagement with the arts for individual and community wellbeing at all stages of life and can provide a non-pharmaceutical adjunct to health interventions. This unit explores case studies of successful creative arts projects in community settings and discusses appropriate evaluation frameworks for health and wellbeing outcomes. Students will reflect on and evaluate critically a community arts project in their own region and will model the planning and conduct of community arts projects, the development of funding strategies, risk management and ethical conduct, developing creative place-based problem solving through writing a proposal for a project intended to promote health and wellbeing.

Learning Outcomes
- Synthesise and analyse current research findings on the benefits of engagement with the arts throughout life for enhancing wellbeing and health outcomes.
- Utilise research skills, methodologies and cultural awareness to underpin planning and ethical delivery of arts projects in the community.
- Evaluate qualitative data critically and apply problem solving skills in real-life.
- Communicate in a scholarly style in written and oral modes with appropriate use of discipline-specific terminology.
