This unit introduces you to the complex and diverse relationships between media texts and audiences. You will engage with key theories in audience studies and explore a range of topics including media effects, citizen journalism, children’s media, and fan cultures. The unit will provide you with a strong foundation in media analysis, challenge you to rethink what it means to ‘be’ an audience, and encourage you to explore the relationship between media and social change.
