Introduction
Digital media, including social media platforms, play an increasing role in the contemporary media landscape. This unit provides you with a strong foundation for understanding the function of digital media in the contemporary media landscape. It will develop your knowledge of key concepts, principles, and practices to understand how social media, and other forms of digital media, informs a strategic communication environment. The unit will develop your practical skills in digital content creation for various platforms and your knowledge and ability to creatively plan, effectively implement, and critically evaluate the performance of various social media strategies.

Learning Outcomes
- Critically evaluate the role of digital media in a strategic communication environment.
- Design and summarise a social media project which uses digital content creation, and present progress on a project in a concise and convincing way.
- Demonstrate your own digital and social media practice in a portfolio of practical work.
- Critically evaluate and discuss your media production experiences and the content you have produced in the context of key concepts in emergent media technologies.
