In this unit, you will develop an informed understanding of the social factors that influence contemporary understandings and experiences of health, wellbeing and illness, and the power relationships within the health care industry. The focus will be placed on topics such as the political, social and cultural influences on health and healthcare; the illness experience; the social determinants of health; what it means to work in health care; and the role of technology. This unit will help you to develop and apply critical thinking skills to question the taken-for-granted ideas that many of us have about health and illness
