Introduction

The aim of this unit is to give students an introduction to understanding different forms of violence against women. Students will examine the social and political underpinnings of violence against women in society, with particular attention to their gendered and intersectional dimensions. The unit will provide an overview of causes of violence against women and it will explore interventions at the individual and societal level. Students will explore ways in which they can support survivors, work with perpetrators and develop strategies for preventing violence against women.
