Please note, this unit can be undertaken as an elective in the Sociology major. The core research unit for the Sociology major is XBR212 Interdisciplinary Social Research (or HGA203/303 Social and Political Research for students who passed the unit prior to 2018).
Introduction
This unit builds upon research strategies introduced in XBR212 Interdisciplinary Social Research. Students will develop social research skills in major qualitative and quantitative methods in the social sciences. Qualitative and quantitative research design, data collection, data analysis and interpretation of findings will be covered with particular emphasis upon qualitative interviewing and survey research. The unit will provide students with the skills to study a range of social phenomena and is highly recommended for students intending to enrol in social science honours.
