TNE Program units special approval requirements.

Teaching

Teaching Pattern

Students undertake 500 hours of placement (minimum) in a setting that is relevant to social work practice. Placements are undertaken on a full-time basis. In some circumstances part time placements may be negotiated, subject to availability. Full time placements are undertaken over a period of 14 weeks. Students will also be required to attend preparation seminars in Semester 1.

Assessment

Continuous evaluation of student performance by the Field Educator. At mid-placement and at the end of placement, student, field educator and liaison staff (from Social Work, UTAS) formally evaluate student performance based on the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Practice Standards (2013) and the AASW Code of Ethics (2010). Students will be required to present documented evidence of the progress of their practice interventions.
