Introduction

Building on from HMJ204, the unit further develops basic grammatical knowledge and oral/aural skills. Students will learn to converse in Japanese on a series of everyday life topics including: transport, health, life and careers, communication and the media. Upon completion of this unit, students will have learnt most of the basic grammatical structures. Attention is also given to the reading and writing of Japanese. Students will be introduced to an additional 140 new kanji and will have learnt over 360 kanji by the end of this unit. Students' general proficiency in Japanese should reach the equivalent of JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) Level N4.
