Note:

Introduction

This joint capstone unit is designed as an extension of Japanese 3A and aims to equip students with sufficient skills to read and respond not only to the structured readings of a textbook but to a range of other primary materials, such as websites, print narrative, news and documentary reports. In this unit, students will be required to use their accumulated knowledge of online and other language learning technology resources to select primary materials of interest and relevance and analyse such materials for purposes of presentation and discussion. Emphasis will be given to further developing students' ability to access and utilise information to support independent language learning. This unit will require substantial out of class hours for preparation of in-class materials as well as independent enquiry by students to demonstrate a maturing understanding of Japanese language and communication within the relevant social-cultural context.
