Introduction
This unit provides an introduction to contemporary political concepts, debates and practices. It examines the Australian political system and compares it with other major liberal democracies such as the United States. It focuses on important policy challenges confronting advanced democracies in the 21st Century examining the nature of political power and how it is exercised. The unit also introduces students to key ideas and ideologies which have framed politics in the past and that shape it today
