Introduction
The development and provision of education and training for staff operating in police environments requires unique risk management processes and procedures mandated by legislation and internal and external policies. This unit provides the foundations for a critical understanding of theories, policies and practices in relation to the management of risk in a dynamic environment such as policing and emergency management.
The unit aims to increase students knowledge of current legislative and policy frameworks around risk management; to introduce students to various approaches to understanding and dealing with the management of risk where risk factors are multiple and stakeholders are many; and provide skills in completing risk assessments for use in police operations and training courses.
