Introduction
This unit provides students with an opportunity to undertake study in an approved topic of special interest to them that is not covered in the Police Studies undergraduate program. A relevant topic needs to be considered in the light of Tasmania Police policy and procedures, academic literature on policing organisations (such as police culture, reform, corruption, performance management, accountability, benchmarking, institutional racism, etc.) and related governmental policies and operational procedures, current legislation and contemporary social issues and their implications.
The unit builds on work covered in a range of policing, law, social science, policy, politics and/or criminology units. It provides students with an opportunity to take first research steps (by way of finding, perusing and analysing related literature, under supervision of your lecturer) via a case study.
