Conducting Research on Complex Problems HSP604
Introduction
In dynamic, high pressure work environments, public sector managers and leaders are now expected to have specialised skills with strategising to overcome complex, and at times intractable, problems. Students undertaking HSP604 will operationalise the complex problem project proposed in HSP603 and write strategic research papers to communicate the outcomes to real world stakeholders. They will deepen their knowledge, and develop and apply skills, in three areas: 1. How to schedule/plan a research project (including ethics if relevant); 2. How to collect and analyse data specific to their project; and 3. How to write up and disseminate research outcomes using research seminars and briefing papers. Students will continue to work with the research supervision team they developed in HSP603.

Teaching Pattern | Workshop, Six two hour online/face to face workshops. Students will engage in six two hour online workshops. These will be presented by subject matter experts. Tutorial, 3 x 50 minutes per semester. Students will engage in a 50 minute online tutorial using Microsoft Teams. This tutorial will be focused on workshopping 4 July 2019 v1.0 each of the assignments to support academic literacy skill development. |
