In 2021 this unit will focus on the history of Europe in the era of the Cold War, from the end of the Second World War to the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Introduction

History is a vast and endlessly fascinating subject of study that has many areas of specialisation. This unit will focus on a particular period, place, and/or historical theme. In doing so you will develop a deep critical engagement with key sources, issues and debates within a field of history.

Assessment

Task 1: Take-home exam (40%)

Task 2: Tutorial participation or online discussion exercises (10%)

Task 3: Minor assignment, 500 words (10%)

Task 4: Major essay, 3000 words (40%)
