Introduction
In this unit, students will undertake an independent project requiring an investigation of an approved Humanities topic. Students will learn and demonstrate research skills in a multi-disciplinary cohort, but will also select and refine an individual research topic of their interest, within the expertise of a designated staff member in their discipline. They will meet regularly with this research supervisor to develop their approach and draft their written output. Students will be required to use a variety of media (e.g. oral, written, visual) to disseminate their research.

Learning Outcomes
- Identify and critically reflect on an appropriate area of scholarly interest within a Humanities discipline.
- Locate and synthesise existing scholarship in this area and design a research question in relation to this body of work.
- Use a range of research strategies and methodologies to address this question, thereby increasing knowledge.
- Develop time and data management skills suited to independent research.
- Demonstrate proficiency in effective communication, using a range of media (e.g. written, oral, visual) to disseminate knowledge.
