Introduction
The unit aims to introduce students to the study of Public Law and to introduce major themes and ideas which are relevant to both Constitutional Law and Administrative Law. The course will be divided into 4 related modules:
Module 1. Introduction to the "Ausminster system"
Module 2. The Parliament and the people
Module 3. Executive Power
Module 4. Judicial and non-judicial scrutiny of public institutions
The course will also demonstrate the practical applications of public law as they arise in Parliament and in litigation. Assessment will be based upon students' practical - especially advocacy based - application of the theoretical principles taught in cases.
