Pre-requisites are applicable to non-Law students; as well as to Law students. Those wishing to study this unit who do not meet the pre-requisites should contact the Manager Academic Administration - Law about a possible pre-requisite waiver.
Introduction
This unit examines controversial and topical issues and subjects in contemporary public international law. The unit takes an interdisciplinary perspective by examining the impact of extra-legal factors on the historical development of our contemporary legal regime for public international law and the role of international relations in the current process of international law.

Learning Outcomes
- understand how public international law has developed historically, and how it continues to evolve in reaction to a changing geo-socio-political environment.
- evaluate through thematic case studies how and why different. states and entities are impacting on the development and content of public international law.
