Developed and delivered by the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre, the course explores biological ageing of the body, the health challenges associated with ageing, and the provision of services to build capacity in areas of care navigation. The unit material you will cover includes understanding the major diseases and conditions associated with ageing, including dementia, and applying processes and strategies to assist older adults in navigating and accessing health care systems, services and processes.
Delivered entirely online, you can learn at a time convenient to you in a collaborative online learning environment. Through online activities and peer learning, you will be able to share your professional experience and learn from others in a collaborative online environment. Our assessment tasks will make use of case studies based on biological ageing, ageing in the community, ageing services provision and the aged care sector. So, if you don’t have significant industry experience you will still be able to contextualise your learning. There will be no direct, compulsory placements in industry as part of this course

Career outcomes
The Undergraduate Certificate in Aged Care Services explores biological ageing of the body, the health challenges associated with ageing, and the provision of services to build capacity in areas of care navigation. It recognises the interdisciplinary nature of ageing and aged care services, and the complexity that the rising impact of dementia brings to these fields.
This part-time, fully online certificate is suitable for you if you are either working in, or planning to work in, aged care or related sectors, such as community-based roles and support services in the context of ageing with health-related diagnoses. Once you complete this certificate, you will be able to assist older adults and their family members to effectively navigate the complexity of the Australian aged care system.
This is a terrific opportunity to get your foot in the door in the aged care sector, as employment projections are upward trending and set to grow by 25% by 2024 * Labour Force Survey June 2019 This course is suitable for students from a wide range of educational backgrounds and minimal or no experience in aged care.
Not only do we provide you with job ready skills, but also the foundation for transition to further study. If you complete the Undergraduate Certificate in Aged Care Services and wish to continue further study, you can enter into either the Diploma of Ageing Studies and Services or the Bachelor of Dementia Care in 2022.
If do enrol in the course but are unable to complete the Undergraduate Certificate in 2021, we will support you to transfer into the Diploma of Ageing Studies and Services.
