Whether you’re in the early stages of your career and wanting to further develop your clinical expertise, or moving into a role that encourages you to lead and manage, our postgraduate nursing courses and wide range of specialisations will support your goals and ambitions.
The Graduate Diploma of Nursing comprises the second level of the postgraduate clinical nursing study journey.
This course is offered part-time only, over four semesters. You will study four units in your chosen specialisation (or receive credit from the Graduate Certificate), as well as two core units in project management for health professionals, and research for clinical practice.
You will also choose two units from a curated selection of topics. This can expand your specialisation knowledge, or add complementary learning in fields including wound management, learning and teaching, quality and safety, and leadership.
Please note that specialisation in this course are offered subject to student demand and the availability of School of Nursing resources.

Course objectives
The School of Nursing, in collaboration with cooperating Health Care Agencies, aims to create an educational environment that values critical, reflective thinking, lifelong learning, acquisition of generic attributes, and professional development. The Graduate Diploma of Nursing Specialisation offers diverse specialties with course-specific objectives. The program's overarching goals are to enable students to work as registered nurses in specialized practice settings, develop advanced nursing knowledge and skills in their specialty, and enhance critical thinking and clinical decision-making. Additionally, the program encourages student interest and engagement in the professional growth of their discipline and develops their ability to communicate effectively with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Professional Experience Placement and Safety in Practice Compliance – Child and Family Health only
The Child and Family Health specialisation includes compulsory Professional Experience Placements. You must meet the College of Health and Medicine's Safety in Practice Requirements before census date of the first semester of your course. The safety in practice requirements are completed separately to the course admission application.
